Kansas City, Missouri--July 25, 2009
With more than 80,000 children processed through the MoCHIP Child ID program in 4 years, MoCHIP executed its 500th event this past Saturday at the MoCHIP event hosted by Ivanhoe Lodge #446 and Swope Health Services. This was a huge milestone for the program, and an even more amazing accomplishment in a comparatively short expance of time. It is apparent that MoCHIP is not only a well-known and viable presence in the community, but will continue to be, remaining a FREE public service thanks to Missouri Freemansons and thousands of dedicated volunteers.
Our 500th event was led by Region 6 coordinator, David Dowell (a fulltime Kansas City Police Officer) where 187 children were processed through the program with the help of MoCHIP team members, and 17 Ivanhoe Lodge and Healthcare USA volunteers--an overall successful event was executed without a hitch!
Meet Joey -- Our 75,000th Child ID'd!
State Coordinator for MoCHIP, Nick Cichielo, synchronized the countdown to 75,000 via continuous cell phone contact with Regional Coordinators. Five MoCHIP events were held in the Central, Eastern, Southern, Western and Northwest regions of the state and the race was on to see where that 75,000th child would be indentified. A very exciting and concentrated few hours later—they had their child.
It happened at 2:28 PM in Green Park, Missouri, 13 miles south of St. Louis. The MoCHIP Team #2, Regional Coordinator Craig Skinner’s crew was on duty at the Meet the Machines MoCHIP Event sponsored by Algabil-Freedom Lodge #636 and Budrovich Exacavating. On the phone with the State Coordinator, MoCHIP Technical Coordinators, Rodney Klein and Lori Cichielo realized the countdown indicated that the child just registered at their event would be the 75,000th child to do so. The child was taken aside—his name is Joey and he is 3 years old. For security purposes, we will not release Joey’s last name, however both he and his parents were very pleased to be an integral part of such a stupendous milestone, and even more thrilled just to have the MoCHIP program available to them.
So at the end of an action-packed day, little Joey and 744 other children across the state were ID’d, a milestone reached, and this was all made possible FREE of charge through the tireless efforts of more than 9,759 dedicated Masonic brethren and volunteers.

It happened at 11:28 AM in Carl Junction, Missouri, 85 miles West of Springfield, population 6,483. The MoCHIP Team #4, Regional Coordinator, Dale Roller’s crew was on duty at the Carl Junction Masonic Lodge #549. It was a real nail biter with State Coordinator, Nick Cichielo in constant contact with all team coordinators, monitoring the 4 events taking place that day, the countdown indicated that the fourth child in line waiting to be processed through MoCHIP would be the 50,000th child to do so—Technical Coordinator, Scott Hougie took her aside—she is 8 years-old. For security purposes, we will not release her name, however both she and her parents were very pleased with the distinction and even more so just to have the MoCHIP program available to them.
